Just a couple things:
1. I just happen to be typing this blog ON MY NEW LAPTOP! I finally got tired of waiting for Best Buy, so I called them and, sure enough, my computer was there. They just didn't follow through on their commitment to call me when it arrived. It was probably sitting there for days, wondering if I didn't love it. Oh, little laptop, I DO love you!!!!
I'm not blogging anywhere cool, yet. I'm still just in my room. I'm not even in a fun location in my room, because the internet cable doesn't reach very far. But just you wait. Sometime very soon I will be blogging from exotic and far away places. Like the coffee shop downtown. Or the library. It will be amazing.
2. This is just the day of receiving the news I've been waiting to hear. I finally got in touch with the assistant to the bishop of my new synod. We talked briefly about where I am at in the process, and then she gave me another congregation to consider. I told her right away to submit my paperwork. In doing so, I considered doing something that I wasn't sure I could ever do. You see, it is fitting that this congregation will be known as church F, because F can stand for FREAKIN' HUGE. Let me explain, growing up with my dad for a pastor, he always went to small congregations in small towns where the church staff consisted of himself and a secretary, who was probably even part-time. The church I just submitted my paperwork to has almost as many people on its staff roster as I did in my seminary graduating class. Lots of people. I would be pastor #6 or something like that. So, I think we can safely say it is what might be considered a mega-church. And I have always said I couldn't work at a mega-church. So, I might be barking up the wrong tree here. But, right now, I'm just grateful to have a tree to be barking up. So I am going to give it a shot. Just because I interview at a place does not mean I am going to be working there... I have learned that lesson well, already.
So there you have my news for the day. I have to download some more stuff on this computer now, so that I can feed my addictions.... Get your mind out of the gutter! I was talking about msn messenger!!!!
